There are four parts that make up this sprocket: The faces where teeth press against one another, which are called flanges; the spokes that hold it together; the hub in the center, and finally, bearings that allow for smooth rotation of these components. Mountain bikes have three types of brakes: V-brakes or linear-pull brakes; disc brakes or hydraulic disk brakes; rim brakes or cable-operated rim brake systems.
